Time to heal

This week our family had a horrible thing happen. Our youngest fell out of her brother’s window. As scary as it was the important things are that she is totally fine and when the bruises heal she will be good as new. God truly had His hand on her. Ihave to say that this is the largest miracle I have ever witnessed. And I know what a blessing this is.

At the same time, everyday life seems really hard now. I have never felt more emotional or lost. I feel like I am failing with my children at giving them all that they need. I have come to a point of just wanting to stay in my home and not leave. It is really difficult to be anywhere near where she fell down to. I feel like my family is all out of sorts and unbalanced. These are the hard times.

I guess we all just need time to heal.

Do you ever stop?

This is a question I was asked the other night. As we were driving home that night I saw the moon and asked my children if they knew what phase it was in. Sadly by the time we pulled in the driveway they could not see it.

My children leaped out of the car and asked permission to cross the street so they could look better. So we did. My neighbors were out talking and could not believe my children were running full speed across the street (after looking both ways) and then staring at the sky. Then they asked if they could make their way down the street for a better look.

My neighbors asked me when I crossed what was going on. I told them the kids were looking to see what phase the moon is in. One of my neighbors asked me, "Do you ever stop?" I could not help but reply, "No, there is always something, somewhere that we can learn about."

I love that we never stop

Decisions, decisions.

It is that time in our career again. Yes, I say our career because my job is to follow my husband from one base to the next raising our babies. This is why I see it is our career. Back on subject though it is time to get new orders. Time to pack up and leave for the next adventure.

We mostly have a positive outlook on this and look forward to all the new things we will get to do and learn. All the new wonderful people we will meet and consider to be life long friends. This also comes with adash of fear and many hours of research.

In our home we wait anxiously every month for the new base choices to come out. Then my husband tells me what the choices are and I start to work. I have a system by now. I look up the BAH for all the possibilities and make a list. Then I check Craigslist for each area and see what looks like the average price of rent is. Can we find a house for a few hundred less then our BAH or will need to live in housing? Is housing an option (sometimes the wait list is so long we will be gone first)?

Then we talk over the options and my husband contacts the detailer. Next we wait to find out if we are going to get those orders or wait anxiously for the next month so we can start again.
